Through our long standing Eden Project contacts we were approached by Joe Oliver of J. Marine to design all the civil elements of this massive inland marina near Rugby on the Oxford Canal.
Working with Architects Kirkland Fraser Moore and Landscape Architects Adams Habermehl our work covered every aspect of the development from commissioning ground investigations, ground modelling (particularly complex as the pools are lined with a specific layer of clay excavated from the site) drainage, piling, bridge design, foundations, jetties and service docks, isolation structures, reinforced concrete design, roads, paving and utilities diversions.
The layout pictured is only Phase 1 of the project. Two further phases are planned taking the capacity of the marina to 550 with moorings for both narrow and wide beam boats, all set in a landscaped former farm with paths, water features and extensive natural planting.
