This project involved the provision of drainage and all other utilities for a number of commercial and leisure development plots adjacent to the impressive (former) Motorola facility in Swindon.
Infrastructure Design Studio were responsible for the design of the below ground foul and storm drainage, including negotiating storm attenuation values for each of the plots and setting up a Section 102 agreement with Thames Water for existing large diameter sewers. We prepared detailed combined service drawings for the site and we were Contract Administrator for the main contract to install the drainage, gas, water, telecom and electricity services. Diversion of existing private HV cables and alterations to the existing street lighting were also part of our role.
The initial development on the site was a large David Lloyd Leisure facility and our role included the coordination of services installation by each of the Utilities involved to ensure that service availability coincided with the ongoing construction work. The project was complicated by the construction of the adjacent Blunsdon bypass by the Highways Agency, which introduced further ‘off site’ coordination work to ensure the medium pressure gas and high voltage electrical supplies could be provided in line with the overall construction programme.
